Ben Hedström is an award-winning Australian artist based on the Sunshine Coast. His work explores the materiality of painting through alla prima and impasto oil techniques, producing textured, luminous artworks that balance gesture with formal compositional elements.
Being present in the landscape and studying natural phenomena is a key part of Hedström’s creative process. His work embodies the moment of aesthetic connection between the physical landscape and its cerebral resonance. Through this encounter, the ephemeral nature of human existence is juxtaposed against the enduring qualities of the landscape.
Hedström’s work has been featured as a finalist in many art prizes, including the Archibald Prize. His work is held in the Sunshine Coast Art Collection and private collections in Australia, the UK, and the USA.
